It was bound to happen: Fatma Said’s debut in the Great Singers series. Said is widely regarded as a sensation. She combines a radiant, expressive soprano with exceptional musicality and stage presence, making her performances both technically impressive and emotionally compelling. Since her 2020 debut album El Nour, she has garnered rave reviews for both her live performances and her recordings. Joining forces with the equally beloved pianist Malcolm Martineau, she will be performing the essentials of the German Lied tradition, which is also at the heart of her latest album, Lieder.

Fatma Said grew up in Cairo and studied in Germany, where she developed her love for the classical Lied. The wonderfully light soprano is increasingly focusing on the song repertoire, to great acclaim. ‘She’s a natural in the repertoire, with impeccable German and an instinctive knack for the idiom’, wrote Gramophone about Said’s album Lieder. keloos Duits en een instinctief gevoel voor stijl’, schreef Gramophone over Saids album Lieder.
