The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, one of the world’s most prestigious ensembles, will perform under the baton of Klaus Mäkelä, who has held such prominent positions as principal conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic and music director of the Orchestre de Paris. In the 2027-2028 season, he will take over as music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, thereby consolidating his position as one of the most promising figures on the international symphonic conducting scene.

Premiered in 1830, Hector Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastique broke with many of the musical conventions of the time and, even today, is still considered one of the great symphonic challenges. The programme will be rounded off by Robert Schumann’s complete First Symphony: “Spring”.
