We open our season on 31st October with Mendelssohn’s wonderful oratorio Elijah, conducted by our own Gregory Batsleer, and with fabulous soloists and the Royal Northern Sinfonia. First performed by HCS in 1859, it quickly became a popular mainstay of the repertoire (performed almost annually in the later decades of the nineteenth century!) and still thrills audiences today.
