Felix Mendelssohn's dramatic musical masterpiece takes us inside the life of Elijah, a commanding prophetic figure believed to have lived around 900BC.

Living in a world of violence between conflicting belief systems, in which catastrophic climate change has been brought about by human activity, it's one man against a hostile state.

Against huge odds, Elijah's Herculean efforts, however triumphant, seem eventually to have come to nothing, and in despair Elijah asks his God to "take away my life".

But that is not to be. There is much more to be done, and after time for recovery and renewal, "then did Elijah the Prophet break forth like a fire!".

On Saturday 3rd October, the English Arts Chorale and Orchestra present a performance in the wonderful acoustic of Reigate’s St Mary's Church.

Do join us! This is a full-scale performance with four wonderful soloists and orchestra, with the “hint of theatre” devised by the stage director Tim Welton, who in his “real” life is currently directing the national tour of the theatre version of Shawshank Redemption. Don’t expect full operatic staging; but do expect… well… a hint of theatre!

Please note the concert starts at the earlier time of 7pm.
Parking available on local streets or in the church car park.

Tickets:  From £22, Under 25 and full time students £9, Carer for disabled person free.  Available from website, phone 07901 604905 or on the door.
