Building on the tremendous success of their collaboration on the Grammy-nominated and Pulitzer Prize finalist work Seven Pillars, Grammy-nominated composer Andy Akiho and the internationally acclaimed Sandbox Percussion present a new work that further pushes the boundaries of contemporary chamber music.
Akiho has earned international acclaim for large-scale works that emphasize the natural theatricality of live performance. Developed over two residencies at Omaha’s creativity incubator KANEKO, the exhilarating, boundary-pushing new work – a 92NY co-commission – presents the composer performing on steel pan alongside the ensemble.
This concert is the second of two Sandbox Percussion concerts this season featuring the music of Andy Akiho.
