Tarrodi, Andrea Lindberg (b. 1981) | Akacia |
Lola Torrente | Violin |
Hanna Dahlkvist | Cello |
Anna Christensson | Piano |
It is no exaggeration to say that Andrea Tarrodi is one of Sweden’s most fascinating and acclaimed composers. In 2018, her music was the focus of Konserthuset Stockholm's annually recurring Composer Weekend.
Andrea Tarrodi’s music has been heard several times before at Konserthuset, including in this concert in Grünewald Hall with Hanna Dahlkvist, cellist in the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 2015, pianist Anna Christensson and violinist Lola Torrente, orchestra member since 2015.
In Akacia, from 2009, Tarrodi has taken inspiration from the dramatic landscape of the Swedish archipelago as well as the sculptural form of the acacia tree. Two themes wind through the piece, occasionally emerging in the piano and occasionally in a dialogue between the cello and violin. Tarrodi herself has said of this piece: “Perhaps one also hears birds singing from the top of the acacia tree.”
Filmed in February 2017.
