Hungarian gypsy spirit and the music of the Baroque are the twin inspirations pervading this progamme, which unite the otherwise unusual pairing of Brahms and Ravel. A journey from gypsy abandon via the more formal dances of Couperin, leads us to Brahms’ grand finale in the Passacaglia of the Fourth Symphony.
