Barokksolistene

Barokksolistene is recognised as one of the world’s most dynamic and exciting groups working in the field of historically informed performance: Fusing virtuoso musicianship, flawless ensemble playing and a unique and utterly engaging style of performance. Long-term collaborators with The Temple's own Thomas Guthrie they present Schubert’s popular song cycle in a recital like none other you have heard before! Rooted in the relaxed social and improvisatory environment - with which Schubert would have been more familiar than we are - the magical production, complete with life-size puppet, takes this more relaxed, accessible and storytelling approach to conjure a strikingly original musical and theatrical performance. The second half features The Alehouse Sessions, an ever changing and evolving insight into the music of the English 17th Century tavern – the concert halls of their era. It will give you a joyous window into this tumultuous period through Purcell overtures and English sea shanties, and with Scandinavian folk songs thrown in for good measure.

This concert is generously supported by The Roger and Ingrid Pilkington Trust and is produced in association with Music and Theatre for All.
