| Francisco Bernier | Guitar |
To mark the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla’s birth, acclaimed Spanish guitarist Francisco Bernier presents a journey through the musical landscape that shaped the composer’s universal voice. Falla’s refined synthesis of tradition and modernity is heard alongside music by Turina, Granados, Albéniz and Tárrega, with works by Villa-Lobos, Barrios Mangoré and Maurice Ohana widening the horizon towards Latin America and a more adventurous modern sound world.
At the centre of the recital, the guitar becomes both witness and protagonist: an instrument capable of joining the intimate and the poetic, the popular and the classical, the local and the universal. Hailing from Seville, Bernier brings authenticity, virtuosity, colour and expressive depth to this celebration of his fellow andaluz and the enduring international legacy of the Spanish guitar.
This is an ILAMS concert organised in collaboration with Pixaudio and the Instituto Cervantes as part of the 2026 London Classical Guitar Festival
