Genre-crossing jazz pianist and MacArthur Fellow Jason Moran performs his program dedication to Duke Ellington in My Heart Sings. Moran reimagines the extraordinary legacy of Ellington’s jazz masterworks, reimagined for solo piano in a “climb up Mount Ellington.”
Jason Moran is a versatile artist defying expectations. He’s a performer of intimate jazz sets like his My Heart Sings program; a composer of scores from films like Selma and 13th; a visual artist with exhibits at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Hailed by Rolling Stone as “The most provocative thinker in current jazz” and “A startlingly gifted pianist with a relentless thirst for experimentation” by the L.A.
