Julia Wolfe tells a harrowing story of sibling rivalry and murder in Cruel Sister. Based on an Old English ballad, Wolfe uses biting string attacks, unsettling drones, and otherworldly strumming and plucking to create an eerie and darkly menacing soundscape.
