A programme that celebrates three important figures in Czech music includes Vítězslava Kaprálová, born in Brno in 1915 and a pupil of Martinů who died tragically young in France at the age of just 25. Her string quartet dates from 1935-6 while she was studying with Vítězslav Novák at the Prague Conservatory and registers some distinctive influence of Moravian folk music.
