Mariss Jansons and the Bavarian Radio Symphony
Orchestra are joined by the Bavarian Radio
Symphony Choir for Mahler’s transcendent
‘Resurrection’ Symphony. Soprano Genia
Kühmeier and mezzo-soprano Anna Larsson
are the soloists in a work that begins with a
depiction of a funeral procession and opens out
into a vision of life after death. With allusions to
Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and klezmer melodies,
its off-stage brass and percussion, and a grand choral
