The Schubert Ensemble is known for its fervent commitment to repertoire for piano and strings and brings the same level of passion and innovation to new commissions and revered classics. For this concert of contrasts the ensemble perform the world premiere of Huw Watkins’s Piano Quartet, written specially for the ensemble, between two Czech piano quartets, Martinu’s sparkling and poignant 1942 work and Dvorák’s rich and colourful piano quartet.
