Please note change to previously advertised programme. Sofia Gubaidulina is one of the most influential Moscow composers of the post-Shostakovich era. The Academy celebrates her 80th birthday year with two chamber concert performances of her evocative music by Academy students and fellows. Both performances will also showcase a new work by an Academy composition student. We regret that due to ill health Sofia Gubaidulina will no longer be able to attend this performance.

Since moving to London in September, I’ve remained highly impressed and encouraged by the capital’s concert attendance levels. I’ve grown up with constant Doomsday prophesies of the imminent demise of Classical music – I think everyone has, actually.
