A summer evening filled with timeless classics by Cole Porter, George Gershwin and others from the golden era of jazz and Broadway musicals. Composer Patrick Zimmerli impressively brings out the beauty of these songs with fresh, tailor-made orchestral arrangements. The great history of film also finds its place in the programme: music from Alfred Hitchcock’s «Vertigo» appears in an orchestral suite, thrillingly rearranged by none other than the composer himself, Bernard Herrmann. An evening that will delight musical and classical music lovers alike ends with a symphonic suite based on Kurt Weill’s Broadway classic «Lady in the Dark».
