Kinetic energy, humour, precision and collective power, in two 30-minute sessions of modern dance expression. Medhi Walerski’s almost ritualistic work Chamber makes its first appearance on stage in Sweden, here in tandem with Cacti – one of many expressive works by Alexander Ekman.
The French choreographer Walerski is known for his intense style, and creates a powerful experience with Chamber, inspired by the classic The Rite of Spring. The work made its première in 2012, with the original music Chamber Symphony by Joby Talbot.
With his stylish compositions and the spectacular opening ceremony for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, Alexander Ekman has made a name for himself on a global stage. With a sense of playfulness and sometimes painful reflections on our contemporary age, he always gives the audience something that resonates long after the curtain has fallen. In Cacti, the dancers float between the collective and the individual, with unexpected props, in a combination of precision and chaos.
