Following the success of Aleppo, Cantigas and alBahr, Cappella Amsterdam returns with Mare Nostrum, a programme situated at the crossroads of Mediterranean cultures. Ancient traditions meet contemporary stories, with Sephardic and Aramaic music alongside guest musicians from the Middle East. Together with them, Capella Amsterdam explores themes of connection, memory and recognition.
At the heart of the programme is Que le néant, a poignant composition by Syrian composer Fawaz Baker. Written for Cappella Amsterdam and previously performed in Aleppo, the work depicts an inner landscape shaped by loss. There is also music by Komitas Vardapet; his Divine Liturgy, in an arrangement by Vache Sharafyan, keeps an ancient spiritual tradition alive.
Tickets: € 12,50 – € 45,00
