Brahms's songful Second Piano Concerto sits alongside his Fourth Symphony. Composed from a series of sighs, Brahms's final symphony is at once his darkets and deepest. However, insecure to the end, Brahms humorously insisted his final symphony was no more than 'a few entractes and polkas which I happened to have lying about'.
