Concertmaster Natalia Lomeiko takes centre stage in Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous Violin Concerto, the perfect showcase for her combination of technical mastery and enchanting musicianship. The Orchestra will also perform one of the most magnificent of 20th century orchestral works: Shostakovich’s profoundly moving and politically-charged Fifth Symphony, written during the height of Stalin’s regime.
Oxford Philomusica is pleased to champion once again the musical talent produced by Oxford University by giving the world premiere of a work by Christopher Garrard selected from its 2012 Composers’ Workshop.
