One of the greatest launching pads for an opera singer’s career, the Neue Stimmen once again proves its ability to attract the best operatic talents the world has to offer. 

The Rotterdam Philharmonic marked their centenary with two concerts starring mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato. A bittersweet weekend, during which they also took leave of their beloved principal conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Rattle’s versatility was on display in the wide range of the menu, yet he found greater affinity in Schubert and Mahler than in French Baroque. 

Two sparkling performances by the Oslo Philharmonic and Harry Bicket of dance suites from Rameau's Platée and Les Boréades framed at times brilliant singing from countertenor David Hansen.

Finghin Collins and Rosanne van Sandwijk shine as soloists while the Orchestra of the 18th Century was as authoritative as ever under the baton of Kenneth Montgomery.
