In *Summer of 1788*, the Kammerorchester Basel, Kristian Bezuidenhout, and Isabelle Faust delve into the electrifying creative world of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart—a summer that changed the course of music history forever.

The title refers to the extraordinary summer of 1788, during which Mozart, despite a precarious financial situation, composed his last three symphonies in just a few weeks, including the tempestuous Symphony No. 40 in G minor. A rich palette unfolds around this masterpiece: the intimate Sonata K. 379, the elegant Second Violin Concerto, and the sparkling Rondo K. 373. The overture to *Olympie* by Joseph Martin Kraus sets the theatrical tone. The result is an evening full of urgency, refinement, and boundless imagination.
