Aberdeenshire born percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie never fails to impress an audience. To celebrate Glennie's 50th birthday, the BBC Proms Chamber Music series fourth concert was a special concert of four pieces written in the last 20 years.

As part of the last full weekend of Southbank Centre's The Rest is Noise festival, Vladimir Jurowski and the London Philharmonic Orchestra presented a programme of British orchestral music from the 1990s.

Beethoven did not take precedence in this concert, but he stole the title. As part of the “Brilliant Beethoven” concert series, the Bristol Ensemble performed the Seventh Symphony of the well-known composer. Marc Brew Company’s Fusional Fragments lit up the Queen Elizabeth Hall in a double bill that marked the first night of performances in the Southbank Centre’s Unlimited festival, a project showcasing work by deaf and disabled artists alongside the London Paralympic Games. Fusional Fragments, featuring live percussion by Dame Evelyn Glennie, was a highly intricate work that lived up to its title.
