After their hugely successful exploration of English opera in 2016, Opera Holland Park return to the Elgar Room, this time with an extraordinary one-act opera composed by Francis Poulenc.

Based on a play by Jean Cocteau, La Voix Humaine portrays a woman’s final telephone conversation with a lover who has abandoned her. She talks of suicide and loss, and the opera has an anxious beauty to it that makes it utterly compelling. Her ultimate fate is shrouded in mystery but we travel the painful journey with her.

Anne Sophie Duprels, one of Opera Holland Park’s best-loved artists, gives a bravura performance in this one-woman opera directed by Marie Lambert

This opera will be sung in French with English subtitles, and will feature an introductory talk by Mark Valencia.
