Brett Dean and Beethoven rub shoulders in Hong Kong

Australian composer Brett Dean’s compositions appear in the 8th Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival next January, where he is composer-in-residence.
Biography

January 19th - 25th, 2017

The 8th Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival 2017 will take place from January 19th -25th, 2017 and will feature 6 ticketed concerts and over 20 free outreach and education activities. Under the auspices of Artistic Director Cho-Liang Lin, the Festival showcases world class musicians performing diverse repertoire in the city’s major concert halls and its smaller boutique venues, alongside a range of education and outreach programmes.  This is truly the art form at the highest international standards.

Since its launch in 2009, the Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival has quickly become a cultural landmark. Through dynamic, accessible performances of world class quality and extensive outreach and education activities, the Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival challenges audience’s perception of what chamber music is -- by making innovative programming choices beyond the standard repertoire, by including non-traditional instruments (e.g. harp, percussion, voice), by holding concerts in non-traditional venues (e.g. museums) and by bringing in performers of the highest international quality together with local musicians. Past guests have included the Emerson Quartet, Lynn Harrell, Ning Feng, Gary Hoffman, Wu Han and the Jerusalem Quartet.

The Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival is organized by Premiere Performances of Hong Kong, a registered charity that brings the best classical musicians in the world to Hong Kong for performances and outreach, enhancing the arts and cultural life of Hong Kong and making classical music accessible to all.
