8 — 18 July 2026, Lockenhaus, Austria

When the elite of classical music gathers with emerging artists in Central Burgenland, and friends make music with friends for friends — that is the Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus. Every July, for ten days.

About the festival

The Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus presents a truly distinctive approach to classical music programming. At its heart lies chamber music of the highest artistic level, performed by internationally renowned musicians who come together in Lockenhaus not just to perform, but to collaborate. In a unique spirit of openness, programmes are often developed on site and announced at short notice, allowing for spontaneity, discovery, and genuine artistic exchange.

Alongside traditional concerts—ranging from matinées to late-night sessions—the programme may include recitals, special thematic projects, masterclasses, and thought-provoking discussions. Blending well-known repertoire with rarely heard works, the festival offers audiences a dynamic and immersive musical experience.

More than a series of concerts, the festival embodies the idea of “music among friends for friends,” inviting listeners to become part of a living artistic process in an atmosphere of exceptional closeness and authenticity.

Venues

The Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus unfolds across a small number of atmospheric venues, all located within the village itself.

Concerts and events take place in the evocative surroundings of the Ritterburg Lockenhaus, the Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus, and the Schloss Esterházy Lockenhaus, each offering a unique acoustic and historical setting.

Select performances are occasionally held across the nearby border in Kőszeg. One of the festival’s most distinctive features is its walkable setting: all principal venues in Lockenhaus are just a short stroll apart, allowing visitors to move easily between concerts and encounters throughout the day.
