Trame Sonore is a chamber music festival and ranges from baroque to contemporary music, intertwining emerging artists with internationally established performers. All this without imposing limits on chamber ensembles, and offering concerts for soloists as well as small groups and orchestras.
The festival takes place in Mantova, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and offers visitors an unprecedented perspective on the encounter between music, art and architecture. It places musical masterpieces from every era in dialogue with the art of G. Romano, A. Mantegna, D. Fetti, Pisanello and Rubens. Here, amidst palaces, churches and squares, classical music enthusiasts find a more authentic listening dimension: recovering the original spirit of making and enjoying chamber music and finding settings in halls whose structure and acoustics recall the places for which that music was conceived and composed.
Palazzo Ducale, Palazzo Te, the Rotonda di San Lorenzo, Teatro Scientifico Bibiena, Basilica di Santa Barbara: these are just some of the monuments worth visiting Mantua for. Adhering to the urbanistic ideals of the Renaissance, it was mainly the Gonzagas who made this city a unique model, not only on an architectural level but also in terms of landscape. There are several nature trails, including the nature reserves of parco del Mincio. Worthy of note is the nearby Sabbioneta, designed and built by Vespasiano Gonzaga in the second half of the 16th century.
