The Residencia de Estudiantes de Madrid was a centre which brought together students and artists of various disciplines and gave birth to the "Generation of '27". We look at the close relationship between some of the composers and poets of this group, and how the genre of Spanish song evolved in the period before the Civil War cut short all artistic and intellectual activity.
