Robert Murray is the standout performer in a night of waltzes and numbers from operetta.

Following the recipe of the New Year Concert from Vienna, the CBSO demonstrated their ability, but not much originality in this predictable programme. 

The Manchester Camerata under Alpesh Chouhan and soprano Olena Tokar welcomed the New Year with Johann Strauss favourites, five of Brahms's Hungarian Dances and a selection of arias.
