Art in Action: 17th - 20th July
During this four day period a wonderful and unique event takes place in Oxfordshire, just off the M40 which is a must for those who love creativity, and celebrate art. For the children there will be workshops (book in advance) for ages 3 to 17, from feltmaking to batik, copper enamelling and silk painting. Grown ups have to make choices between mosaic and geometric design, sculpture, woorkwork, glass engraving and jewellery making to name but a very few. The classes are cheap (between £3 - £5) and taught by real professionals in their field.

If you are looking for a really inspirational day out for all the family this summer, then Art in Action has something for everyone. A series of marquees set in the beautiful grounds of Waterperry House, play host to a huge range of artists who demonstrate their craft to visitors. Over 200 artists and craftsmen will recreate their studios in one of the many Art in Action marquees and demonstrate their expertise in everything from woodwork to glass blowing, embroidery to jewellery making, painting, sculpture, ceramics, calligraphy and illustration, metalwork, textiles, and art of Asia.
There are also the famous Waterperry Gardens to be explored, storytelling sessions to attend, performing arts and live music performed around the site. A craft market with over 100 designer makers provide a treasure trove of beautifully hand crafted goods and would-be artists can purchase art materials to take home and “get started”.
At 1.30 each day just as after lunch sleepiness sets in you can be aroused by the vigorous Choral Workshops which this year are held in the music tent on the front lawn. Either David Ward or Bruce Ramell, both experienced choral directors, will take some warm up exercises and then prepare a piece for performance to the assembled company.
