The mystery of the craft: The Donatella Flick Conducting Competition

Ahead of this year’s Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition, we talk to past winners Niklas Hoffmann, Elim Chan and François-Xavier Roth about their experiences.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition, held every two years, was founded in 1990 by philanthropist Donatella Flick. The Competition’s principal aim is to bridge the gap between conservatoire training and professional life for emerging young conductors. Between 20th and 22th November 2018, 20 contestants will be given the chance to prove their skills in front of one of the world's top orchestras, the London Symphony Orchestra.

The Competition welcomes applications from conductors aged 30 or under who are citizens of the 28 countries with full membership of the European Union, plus those in Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein and Switzerland. For full application details, please visit the 2018 Donatella Flick Competition website.
