Performer: Brodsky Quartet

In a problematic acoustic environment, the Brodsky Quartet's sound did not always live up to the expectations.

The Brodsky Quartet deliver deeply moving performances of all 15 Shostakovich string quartets, with added value and insight from writers Elizabeth Wilson and Marina Frolova-Walker. 

Two fascinating and hugely entertaining recent pieces started a superb concert by the strings of the Manchester Camerata, joined by Jess Gillam in Glazunov's Saxophone Concerto and the Brodsky Quartet in Elgar's Introduction and Allegro. Tchaikovsky crowned the concert.

This was a true tour de force and a fitting climax to a rather miraculous examination of counterpoint through musical history.

Schubert’s String Quintet was certainly a crowd-puller at this concert, as Kings Place's Cello Unwrapped series continues.
