Olivia Fuchs solves the problems of Britten's thorny opera in a brilliant new production that hits the heights, featuring Mark Le Brocq as earthbound scholar, Gustav von Aschenbach.  

Lindy Hume's new production works reasonably well in allowing the story to be told with sufficient emotional weight.

It’s a small miracle that the production has been recreated so well in such a short time frame.
