German theatre director Uwe Eric Laufenberg freely incorporates some of Stanley Kubrik’s horror story concepts into his Elektra, but in ignoring both Sophocles and Strauss, is a long way from shining.  

Marco Arturo Marelli’s extravagant art deco production is one of the most successful productions available at the Volksoper. It's an appropriate and lighthearted choice to celebrate 25 years of Ildikó Raimondi.

Sir Simon Rattle concludes the Ring Cycle in Vienna with a detailed and intricate reading of the opera with an excellent cast.
