Performer: Orpheus Chamber Orchestra

One of the most charming attributes of Montgomery's Strum is the way different individual voices rise from and fall back into a seductively colored sound canopy. 

The players demonstrated again the unity of an impromptu ensemble, although made up of instrumentalists that have played numerous times together. 

Less is more in a brilliant performance by the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and star soloist Jan Lisiecki at Prague Spring.

During Jessie Montgomery's Records from a Vanishing City, musical styles from avant-garde jazz to Angolan lullabies quarreled and overlapped, keeping our ears pricked for the duration of the piece.

A strong thunderstorm delayed the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra’s Blossom Music Center debut, but despite their fine playing, the venue proved too large.

The conductorless  Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and violinist Pinchas Zuckerman, however, presented an evening of music loosely connected across several centuries, effectively pressing shuffle on the classical music jukebox.
