Performer: Philadelphia Ballet

The Philadelphia Ballet transported audiences back to Belle Époque Paris with The Merry Widow, set to Franz Lehár’s beloved score (adapted by John Lanchbery) and Ronald Hynd’s spectacular choreography.

George Balanchine’s short-but-thrilling ballet Allegro Brillante is tailor-made to Mayara Piniero’s talents in Philadelphia. 

Pennsylvania Ballet kicks off the season with its first Giselle since Angel Corella took over the artistic directorship five years ago. A cast dominated by soloists and corps more than did it justice.
