Performer: Siyabulela Ntlale

Gershwin's opera proves the absolute highlight at Musikfest Berlin, thanks to a tight-knit cast led by Siyabulela Ntlale and Nonhlanhla Yende.

Mounted as part of Theater Erfurt's Romeo and Juliet, Zandonai's 1922 opera, in its first German production since 1942, offered a distinctive retelling of the tragedy of the 'star-cross'd lovers', both as a composition and in staging.

110 Jahre im Schatten von Richard Strauss’ Elektra vergessen, beeindruckte Felix Weingartners Orestie nun in einer opulenten Neuinszenierung.
