The outstanding artistic leadership of Kirill Karabits was recognised with the Conductor prize at the 2013 Royal Philharmonic Society awards; the citation praising exceptional performance standards, both at our home venue at the Lighthouse in Poole and at venues throughout the South and South West. The BSO is recognised as one of the most significant cultural assets in the region, lauded by critics with outstanding reviews in the national press receiving four stars or more and cherished by our loyal audiences. There can be no doubt that the quality of performance is regarded as being on a high.

With over 300 recordings made, regular BBC Radio 3 broadcasts and countless plays on Classic FM every week, the BSO continues to reach and inspire new audiences. An established Education and Participation programme sees the Orchestra’s work go a long way beyond the concert hall sharing its vision to make music-making accessible to all.

From the smallest to the biggest scale performance, from engaging new people to live music-making to those who have loved music all their lives, our musicians have the passion and flexibility to inspire audiences in a way that truly celebrates the role that culture, and in our case music, has and must always have in enhancing and transforming lives.

In truth the delivery of a masterful performance is the product of a huge team working together to achieve the remarkable – musicians, conductors, programmers, roadies, librarians, educationalists, volunteers, marketers, fundraisers, administrators the list goes on.

Our vision is to continue to deliver as a team world-class artistic excellence and create artistic impact, reach and inspire people across all age groups and from all communities.
