For Richard Goode, returning to Beethoven’s last piano sonatas is not an extraordinary event, but rather a form of periodic devotion.

The premiere of Saad Haddad's Second String Quartet survives the downpour, the centrepiece of the Callistos’ recital in Caramoor’s Venetian Theater.

In Goode’s performance, Beethoven’s sonata appeared equidistant from the music of Bach and Schumann that preceded and followed it in the programme. 

Under Will Crutchfield’s direction the festival has focused on the rediscovery of forgotten 19th-century Italian works and celebrates the legacy of the bel canto era.
