A deeply committed solo performance of the virtuosic Psappha by Greek composer Iannis Xenakis. This work is a stunning percussion “conversation” by the multi-talented composer who was also a mathematician and architect working together with the legendary Le Corbusier. The title Psappha refers to the Greek poet Sappho from Lesbos who pioneered emotional and self-reflecting love verse. Xenakis music may be seen as a modern musical exploration of ancient and archaic sound-worlds.

The concert is part of this spring’s digital news GSOplay Sessions, where you get really close to artists and ensembles in imaginative film productions with creative lighting for the concert hall’s beautiful fund. New music that will amaze you, beautiful classics that you cannot resist. Everything at the highest level with musicians from Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.

Filmed in March 2020.
