Work: Jephtha

Poor diction and lack of heft from some principals mar the composer's last great oratorio. 

Claus Guth's production of Handel's last oratorio lands in Paris, where William Christie leads Les Arts Florissants and a stellar cast. 

Jephtha at the Halle Handel Festival subverts the text, and provides little in the way of dramatic or musical compensation.

While the oratorio “Jephtha” is rarely performed, Joachim Krause recently conducted the Capriccio Barockorchester and some 120 singers of the Gemischte Chor Zürich to delight a Zurich audience.
