Matthew Locke predates Henry Purcell in the history of English music by a small margin. His music, composed for a wide variety of instruments (woodwind, strings, wind, voice), possesses the same charm of the strange, the irregular baroque, thanks to bold melodic turns and deliciously dissonant harmonies.

This concert offers the opportunity to discover the many facets of this composer, through excerpts from his stage music The Tempest , excerpts from the opera Cupid and Death , and numerous suites for consorts with several instruments.
