Bromborough String Quartet take on two works that trace the evolution of the string quartet from the elegance of late Classicism to the emotional depth and density of Romanticism. The Beethoven continues the group’s exploration of his Op.18 set – works full of grace, wit and innovation. In contrast, the Brahms represents his first published quartet, a piece he laboured over for years under the weight of Beethoven’s legacy.
