The cellist Pablo Ferrández, winner of the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition, will perform Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto (1918), considered the most important work from the twentieth-century repertoire of this instrument. He will be accompanied by the Musikkollegium Winterthur, a Swiss ensemble with over 200 years of history. The conductor will be Roberto González-Monjas, also musical director of the Sinfónica de Galicia and principal conductor of the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg.

The programme also includes the Spanish premiere of Caprice à l’espagnole by Richard Dubugnon and Symphony No. 5 “The Reformation” by Felix Mendelssohn, composed to celebrate the 16th-century religious reforms in Germany.

This concert is part of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Pau Casals.
