As Director of the Wallace Collection for 19 years, Dame Rosalind Savill was greatly admired, respected and loved as one of the foremost art historians and innovative museum directors of her generation. She was a Trustee of the Royal Collection and was closely involved with the Royal Mint, the Fitzwilliam Museum and the National Trust amongst others. She left an indelible impression of enthusiasm, joy, scholarship and caring and she had a passion for Arts education in which she was a peerless lecturer and author, especially in the field of Sevres porcelain.
All proceeds from this concert will be split between Wigmore Hall Learning initiatives and the Beares Cultural Trust, which supports young musicians early in their careers.
The J & A Beare Cultural Trust supports over 100 young musicians with weekly coaching and performance opportunities. A core group of 60 is also provided with specialist chamber music training. Students supported by the Trust receive instrument loans, private lessons and public masterclasses from world-leading artists.
