Croatian composer, pianist and violinist Dora Pejačević (1885-1923) helped transform the musical scene in her homeland with works of tremendous substance and imagination. Elena Urioste and Tom Poster show why her late-Romantic art was so highly regarded in fin-de-siècle Europe with a performance of the enchanting ‘Spring’ Sonata. The duo, praised by Strings Magazine for their ‘sympathetic, poetic’ artistry, set Pejačević’s uplifting score in company with Dvořák’s exquisitely sombre Nocturne and Brahms’s emotionally complex Third Violin Sonata.
