Mandle Cheung conducts Mahler's Symphony No.2, 'Resurrection'

Gustav Mahler’s Second Symphony is one of the composer’s most expansive works, confronting questions of loss, belief, and renewal on a monumental scale. Leading the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Brighton Festival Chorus, and soloists Elizabeth Watts and Jennifer Johnston, Mandle Cheung shapes this vast score in the Alexandra Palace Theatre. From the searching intensity of the opening movement to the quiet entrance of the chorus and the affirmation of the final pages, Mahler’s 'Resurrection' Symphony unfolds as a deeply human journey under the direction of Mandle Cheung.

Mandle Cheung founded the Mandle Philharmonic Orchestra in Toronto, Canada in 2017. Since its inception, the orchestra has performed 19 concert programs to mostly sold-out audiences at preeminent venues across the Toronto area. These performances have featured works such as Beethoven's Symphony No.9, 'Choral', and various symphonies by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Mahler. In June 2025, Mandle Cheung conducted the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Mahler's Symphony No.2.
