The ensemble Modo Antiquo, founded by the musicologist, soloist and conductor Federico Maria Sardelli, is one of the most outstanding European chamber orchestras and is invited to festival and concert halls of renown all over Europe. The soloists, Federico Fiorio, Margherita Maria Sala and Luigi De Donato, who have appeared on stages of international renown, are excellent and promise unforgettable musical enjoyment. In the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung a review of the performance of Vivaldi’s Il Giustino in Drottningholm, Sweden, in August 2022 read: “In the soprano register mention must be made of Federico Fiorio, who cuts a bella figura as the glory-seeking schemer, his appealing, unforced soprano voice is a rarity”. Handel composed Aci, Galatea e Polifemo in Naples in 1708 for a wedding. The Serenata a tre is certainly one of his most beautiful works written while in Italy and an unparalleled masterpiece in the genre. Few subjects occupied Handel as often and over such a long period as this moving ancient saga. The libretto is taken from Ovid’s Metamorphoses and describes the blissful love affair between the shepherd Acis and the water nymph Galatea, which is destroyed by the cyclops Polyphemus. But this will not prevent the proven Baroque music expert Federico Maria Sardelli from delighting our ears – right up to the dramatic end.
