The spotlight is on the wind and string players of the Orchestra of Opera North in this concert of music for small ensembles.
Bernard’s Divertissement for wind ensemble is deliciously light, and Caroline Shaw’s contemporary string quartet is an ‘exercise in nostalgia’. Mendelssohn’s youthful genius shines in his String Symphony, written when he was just 14 years old.
