Darkly theatrical, vivacious, and bold, Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni launches the concert in dramatic style. Ruth Gipps’ Seascape follows, a musical portrait of shifting tides, windswept coastlines, and broad horizons.
Scored for string orchestra, Punctum weaves fragments of early music into a work that feels both timeless and quietly contemporary, before Mendelssohn’s ‘Italian’ Symphony closes the concert with sparkling melodies and dancing rhythms.
